Justice system - quick rant

If you know me then you know I have good knowledge of the Justice system and how it works.  I have watched things lately and have been floored by some stories recently.  I have been slacking on my posts lately but things are crazy in Reinhold Land.  I watched as former NY Giants WR Plaxico Burress was taking into jail the other day and watched his emotion on his face.  The guy is scared S**TLESS and has a good reason to be.

Let’s first start with why I think our Justice system is failing us.  Over the Spring of 2009 a football player, Cleveland Browns WR Donte Stallworth was driving his vehicle both drunk and stoned.  He then hit a pedestrian and killed him.  HE KILLED HIM!  He did this while being drunk and stoned.  Now knowing what you just heard, what do you think his punishment was?

  1. 23 days of jail and a lifetime ban on getting a drivers license
  2. 23 weeks of jail and a lifetime ban on getting a drivers license
  3. 23 months of jail and a lifetime ban on getting a drivers license
  4. 23 years of jail and a lifetime ban on getting a drivers license

If your answer was #1, you are correct.  He served 23 days in jail and cannot get a drivers license ever again.  WTF?!?  So let me get this straight, you kill someone with your vehicle while being stoned and drunk and you serve 23 days of jail and can no longer drive legal in the US.  *shrugs shoulders*

Now let’s move over to Plaxico Burress now.  He goes to a night club with some buddies and has a gun in his pants (save the gun in pants or happy to see me jokes for later).  The gun slips and while fumbling for the gun in his pants he shoots himself in the leg.  He shoots himself in the leg, not anyone else or anything else.  He shot himself folks…in his own damn leg.  Dumbass, yes…dangerous, yes…stupid as f**k, yes…funny, well yeah it is.  Anyways.  He now is going to serve 2 years in prison and will serve another 2 years of supervised release.  Granted he will serve about 20 months in jail but still.

So my rant today is that one person kills a man while being drunk and stoned serves 23 days in jail and another who shot himself will serve about 20 months in jail.  I am not the smartest man alive, I am not the lawyer type person and I am not a judge.  But I see a very clear case of “bad justice system” being played out here.  There is no way to explain this to me other than to say one guy got the shaft (save the prison shower jokes for later) and the other guy got the yellow brick road.

To me this is a very serious problem in our society today.  Yes we have other issues out there and other larger problems to deal with but our Justice system can become a very large problem sooner than we may think.  Do I feel that the President needs to address this, no.  I think this is a problem that the entire country needs to address.  I see way too many people buy their way out of trouble but yet the little guy with no green backs can get years and years of prison abuse for the exact same crime.  I know that is not what happened in these two cases, except that Stallworth bought his way out.

Simple fix to our crime rate and justice system.  Bring back public executions (hanging, stoning, burning, etc) and let the prison systems run as a private corporation.  Let the private companies do as they please to prisoners.  Once you become a prisoner, you lose all rights and are no longer a citizen.  If and when you get released, you have to earn your citizenship or face exile to an island.  On this island you will have savage beatings, raping and whatever else you can think of.  if every person knew this could happen to them, things would change quick…real quick!

I know this is rude and crude, but if you knew that these things could happen to you…I bet you would think twice about everything you ever did.

Cheers.

NFL - Week 3 predictions

Well after two weeks I am sitting strong at 26-6.  I have called some upsets and some strange winners but so far that seems to be paying off well.  Now if I could only do so well in my Fantasy Football leagues.  After 2 weeks in the NFL some folks are wondering what is going on.  Tom Brady seems human after all…or is the Tony Romo effect???  Brady gets a woman…gets her pregnant…gets married…now he is not all that “perfect” or “great” anymore.  Hmmmmm.  The Titans defense looks like the Detroit Lions offense, sad.  Speaking of the Detroit Lions, will they win a game this year?  I think so and I think it will happen sooner than you might think.  On with the picks for this week.

New Orleans Saints (2-0) at Buffalo Bills (1-1) - New Orleans
Until this offense gets stopped this team will continue to win.  Their offense is actually helping their defense and their special teams play is still solid.  Brees will win as Buffalo fans are left in awe.

Pittsburgh Steelers (1-1) at Cincinnati Bengals (1-1) - Pittsburgh
This is a tough call but I have to go with what is playing better…but not by much.  The Bengals still look a bit confused out their and Ochocinco will not have as much fun this week against the Steelers D.

Washington Redskins (1-1) at Detroit Lions (0-2) - Detroit
Yes, it finally happens folks.  I can feel it in the air.  The Lions looked tough on Minnesota in the first half last week but fell apart in the second half.  Washington has zero offense so all Detroit has to do is play some solid offense with a decent defense and they win.  I also like Stafford for a break out game here as he finds Calvin Johnson all over the field.

Denver Broncos (2-0) at Oakland Raiders (1-1) - Oakland
Kyle Orton, meet the ugly @$$ Raider nation and their ugly step-children.  This game will scare Kyle into a couple of picks and I see the Raiders running all day.

Green Bay Packers (1-1) at St. Louis Rams (0-2) - Green Bay
Simple, Rogers wants to prove to everyone he can still throw the ball well.  St Louis has no pass rush and they cannot rely on Jackson to run the ball and save their @$$.  Look for a high score on the Packers side of the ball.

San Francisco 49ers (2-0) at Minnesota Vikings (2-0) - Minnesota
Duh, who else would I pick???  Look for Minnesota to attack the 49ers line and shut down Gore.  With Gore shut down…watch Allen rip a few sacks into the old stat column.  Peterson will have a good day again but I would look for Farve to pass over 250 yards and 3 touchdowns.

Atlanta Falcons (2-0) at New England Patriots (1-1) - Atlanta
I am not liking the Tom Brady I see this year.  I do not blame him as his line…well…they suck.  Brady will run for his life again and with Randy double-covered all day the Pats will have a hard time scoring.  Look for Ryan and the Atlanta offense to blow up in New England.  Sorry Pats fans, but with this loss people will begin to start screaming for a change.  *shakes head*  I hate fair weather fans.

Tennessee Titans (0-2) at New York Jets (2-0) - NY Jets
The Titans pass defense is non-existent.  Talk about making life easy for a rookie QB.  Boring game, boring stats…unless you a NY Jets fan.  J - E - T - S, JETS, JETS, JETS!

Kansas City Chiefs (0-2) at Philadelphia Eagles (1-1) - Philadelphia
Philadelphia played well with Kolb last week.  He made mistakes, but he is a backup QB remember.  Vick gets his first real game of the year but has little effect.  Kolb wins this game easy in the air.  Vick fans, he will get about 25 yards rushing and 25 yards passing.  Nothing to get all excited about.

Indianapolis Colts (2-0) at Arizona Cardinals (1-1) - Arizona
This is a great Sunday night match-up.  This will be the game of the week easily.  Look for about 750 yards passing between the teams with Arizona pulling away with the help of Fitzgerald.

Miami Dolphins (0-2) at San Diego Chargers (1-1) - San Diego
I am a bit tossed in the air on this game.  Both have good ideas about winning but just cannot finish it off.  Look for Rivers to pick apart the Dolphins D and watch as the Wildcat falls apart.

Chicago Bears (1-1) at Seattle Seahawks (1-1) - Chicago
Without their star QB, the Seahawks are in for a long day.  Look for Cutler to open up and start to pile on the numbers.

New York Giants (2-0) at Tampa Bay Buccaneers (0-2) - NY Giants
Do you really need to ask about this game?  The Bucs are trying to get an offense going but their defense is still the Living Dead.  Jacobs will wake up and run some numbers up and Eli will make just enough passes to win.

Cleveland Browns (0-2) at Baltimore Ravens (2-0) - Baltimore
Brady Quinn…meet Ray Lewis…Ray Lewis…meet Brady, OMFG!  Lewis just ripped Quinn’s head off and kicked it through the uprights.  Long day for Cleveland…even longer for the Brown’s fans.

Jacksonville Jaguars (0-2) at Houston Texans (1-1) - Houston
I wonder if Jacksonville is re-thinking that whole Byron Leftwich thing or not.  I would be.  Houston continues to roll on their passing game and people begin the “Fire Del Rio” crys.

Carolina Panthers (0-2) at Dallas Cowboys (1-1) - Dallas
Get off of Romo’s back already.  Can the Cowboys blitz anymore or are they scared to?!?  Zero sacks in 8 quarters on two very sloooooooow QBs.  Look for the Cowboys to run up the score and blitz like their @$$’s depended on it.  Oh yeah, Jake D…I hope your chin strap is tight and I hope you do not mind throwing a couple of picks and fumbling a couple of times.  Turnover ratio in the game - Cowboys +4.

Well, back to work and back to answering e-mails from very upset Raider fans.  :-)

NFL - Week 2 Predictions

The NFL Football season is upon us and it is time to get it on!  With input from no one other than myself…a few are trying to persuade my picks…here are the predictions for Week 2 in the NFL.

Carolina Panthers (0-1) at Atlanta Falcons (1-0) - Atlanta
Jake Duuuuuuhlome, any questions.

Cincinnati Bengals (0-1) at Green Bay Packers (1-0) - Green Bay
Cincinnati does not look good yet and Green Bay just seems to tough to handle at home right now.

Minnesota Vikings (1-0) at Detroit Lions (0-1) - Minnesota
Detroit goes for a nice 19 game losing streak.

Arizona Cardnials (0-1) at Jacksonville Jaguars (0-1) - Arizona
Look for the Arizona offense to bounce back with a vengeance.

Oakland Raiders (0-1) at Kansas City Chiefs (0-1) - Oakland
Oakland looked very good last week and I am not sure that Kansas City can handle that much power, even at home.  Look for a struggle on both sides of the ball but Oakland will come out on top.

New Orleans Saints (1-0) at Philadelphia Eagles (1-0) - New Orleans
Brees -vs- Kolb, no contest.  This will not be a defensive battle like many have predicted.  This will be a shootout with New Orleans on top.

Houston Texans (0-1) at Tennessee Titans (0-1) - Houston
The Titans do not look good at all yet and with so many people questioning their defense, I cannot pick them this week.  Look for the Texans to make a big come back this week and I will watch Shaub make his name this week against a weak Titans secondary.

St Louis Rams (0-1) at Washington Redskins (0-1) - Washington
Sorry, but St Louis is in a battle with Detroit for the #1 pick in 2010.

New England Patriots (1-0) at NY Jets (1-0) - NY
New England looked a bit weak last week and did not look like the old Brady led Patriots.  I love that the Jets came out with some trash talk and I think their defense backs it up this week.

Seattle Seahawks (1-0) at San Francisco (1-0) - San Francisco
I see the 49ers coming out strong and making a case for the division lead.

Pittsburgh Steelers (1-0) at Chicago Bears (0-1) - Pittsburgh
The Bears go trade for Cutler and forget about Forte.  I do not see Cutler and the Bears making much of a difference this week against a very strong Steelers defense.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers (0-1) at Buffalo Bills (0-1) - Buffalo
Tampa Bay appears to be a team on the decline and until they go back to the running attack they will continue to lose.  Buffalo on the other hand will make a serious bounce back and prove to everyone that they can be a tough team on both sides of the ball.

Baltimore Ravens (1-0) at San Diego Chargers (1-0) - Baltimore
LT???  How in the hell does he claim to be the #1 RB in football?  Anyways, LT hurt and the Ravens coming down on Rivers and Pee Wee, this will be a close game but Baltimore will come out on top.

Cleveland Browns (0-1) at Denver Broncos (1-0) - Denver
The Denver fans will win this game for the Broncos.  Okay, that aside I see a defensive game here with Denver coming out on top.

NY Giants (1-0) at Dallas Cowboys (1-0) - NY Giants
I know, the opening of the new Cowboys stadium.  I just think that the Giants front 7/8 will make life very hard for Romo and the Boys.

Indianapolis Colts (1-0) at Miami Dolphins (0-1) - Indianapolis
The Colts love being on Prime Time TV and will show everyone why they are still a tough team.  The Dolphins have a tough night ahead of them and it will show by the 4th quarter.

I finished 12-4 last week and feel another solid week coming.  If you doubt me, prove it to me.  Make your picks!

NFL - Week 1 predictions

The NFL Football season is upon us and it is time to get it on!  With input from no one other than myself…a few are trying to persuade my picks…here are the predictions for Week 1 in the NFL.

Tennessee Titans (0-0) at Pittsburgh Steelers (0-0) - Pittsburgh
Look for a very solid defensive game here and the beginning of Tennessee fans calling for Vince Young.

Miami Dolphins (0-0) at Atlanta Falcons (0-0) - Atlanta
This could be one of the better games of the week as both teams are coming off of a great season last year.  Neither defense is great but both offenses have some solid fire power.  The difference in this game is going to be Tony Gonzalez.

Denver Broncos (0-0) at Cincinnati Bengals (0-0) - Cincinnati
Denver made way too many mistakes this off-season and they are in for a long year with a lot of angry fans.  Kyle Orton is a horrible pick as a QB and Denver will soon find out very quickly that his preseason was a glimpse into the future.  I see Josh McDaniels fired by the end of the season and the Broncos going after Coach Gruden or Coach Cowher.

Minnesota Vikings (0-0) at Cleveland Browns (0-0) - Minnesota
Hello Percy Harvin!  Oh yeah, Brady Quinn, let me introduce you to the Vikings Defensive line.  The second coming of the Purple People Eaters.

Chicago Bears (0-0) at Green Bay Packers (0-0) - Green Bay
Two very solid QBs but only one has had time with his team.  Green Bay showed everyone that their offense is no joke and they will light up Chicago with both a passing attack and a solid ground game.

Jacksonville Jaguars (0-0) at Indianapolis Colts (0-0) - Jacksonville
This is a tough game to pick but I have a feeling the Colts are in for a big surprise when Manning is on his backside for a good part of this season.  They will be strong this year but they will have to fight very hard to capture their division.  Jacksonville looks too strong for the Colts at this point.

Detroit Lions (0-0) at New Orleans Saints (0-0) - New Orleans
This is almost unfair but…Detroit will lose by a large margin here.  Culpepper was a better choice and you failed by making Stafford your starting QB.  Brees will light up the scoreboard all day against the Lions.

Washington Redskins (0-0) at New York Giants (0-0) - New York
This will be a back and fourth game but in the end the running game of the Giants will be too much for Washington.

San Francisco 49ers (0-0) at Arizona Cardinals (0-0) - Arizona
I looked at this game for quite a while and could not figure out what would happen.  I do not see the 49ers doing too well this year unless their offense can score at least 17 per game.  Too many questions at QB and I am not sure they can match the Cardinal’s offense in this match-up, maybe next time.

St. Louis Rams (0-0) at Seattle Seahawks (0-0) - Seattle
Seattle is going to be very good this year with a very strong offense and a solid defense.  St. Louis, well you are pretty well run down and are in the midst of a rebuilding phase.  Good luck on your top 3 pick next year.

Dallas Cowboys (0-0) at Tampa Bay Buccaneers (0-0) - Dallas
Dallas is going to be more of a running team than a passing team this year and that will help Romo out a ton.  Tampa Bay is going to go through some serious problems this year and they may as well face the fact that they need to rebuild from this years draft class.

Philadelphia Eagles (0-0) at Carolina Panthers (0-0) - Philadelphia
Philadelphia is going to over-whelm the Panthers this week and pretty soon the Panthers will need to move on at the QB position.

Kansas City Chiefs (0-0) at Baltimore Ravens (0-0) - Baltimore
Can you say bulldozer versus fine china?  Baltimore is going to put Cassell on his @$$ and knock him clean out of the game.  KC, well you are going to be in for a long year again because he may be decent at QB but Cassell thrived in a system…just not yours.

New York Jets (0-0) at Houston Texans (0-0) - Houston
I think this might be Houston’s year to break the 8-8 mark and move above .500 finally.  The Jets will play decent but Sanchez is young and will make mistakes.  I like Houston to pass/run very well all day long.

San Diego Chargers (0-0) at Oakland Raiders (0-0) - San Diego
They will walk away with the division crown this year and Oakland is a mere bystander.  Silver and Black fans…prepare to boo the crap out of LT all day as he runs circles around your defense.  Tom Cable, perfect head coach in Oakland.  He is a man juice seed of Al Davis mixed with the fierce passion of the Raider Nation…problem is, he cannot control his temper and he has no ability to coach in the NFL.  Do not worry Raider fans, you will beat up Denver and Kansas City all year.

Buffalo Bills (0-0) at New England Patriots (0-0) - New England
Randy Moss is gleaming with joy right now as he prepares to show TO what it is like to have a Pro Bowl Hall of Fame bound QB on your side.  Buffalo on the other hand is in for a long year as Juron is a meat head.  You fire your OC because he is smarter than you and runs a more complex offense than your pea brain mind can handle.  This is the year of TO really becoming a cry baby.

Hate me all you want folks, but I call them as I see them.  of course if I was great at these picks I would not be living in Colorado…I would be living the dream somewhere a lot warmer.  ;-)
